Orientation of a site is very important so be careful of the land sales promoting “North Facing Site” especially in the built up areas.

If the site is facing north, that means your garage is taking up at least 30-40% of the frontage, which is a waste, and secondly the side boundaries are facing east & west with south at the rear. This is far from ideal as we entertain at the rear of the block and living and bedrooms are normally located along the sides of the block.

So when you see and advertisement which promotes “North Facing”, be careful and think about the layout of the home you want before making an offer.
