A Modern Home with Room to Grow
Client Vision
The client came to us with the goal of building a secondary dwelling they could move into straight away. Their vision was to create a modern, elevated home that would sit above a new garage, allowing them to take full advantage of the property’s sweeping views.
They wanted a design that would make a strong visual statement as you approached the site, yet still feel at home within the surrounding landscape. Importantly, they also had long-term plans to build a future primary residence alongside the secondary dwelling—so this needed to be thoughtfully considered in the initial design.
Our Process
Following the initial enquiry, we arranged an in-person meeting to dive deeper into their brief. We discussed their lifestyle needs, design preferences, and how the new build could best support both their immediate and future plans.
From this conversation, I developed a concept design featuring a 3D mockup that brought their ideas to life. Once the concept was approved, we collaborated on selecting the materials and finishes, creating detailed renders to help them visualise how everything would look together.
During this phase, I also offered professional advice and recommendations to ensure both style and functionality were achieved.
Once the design and selections were locked in, we progressed to the official building documentation. This included site plans, floor plans, elevations, 3D visuals & material and finishes schedules.
The Outcome
The finished design is a sleek, modern secondary dwelling elevated above a purpose-built garage. With expansive views and bold street appeal, the structure strikes a perfect balance between standout design and environmental harmony. Designed with foresight, it also allows for the seamless integration of a future primary residence, supporting the client's long-term vision for the site.
